Netball’s young talent showcase ability at Bermuda College
Some of Bermuda’s brightest young netball talent displayed their abilities as the Bermuda Netball Asscociation celebrated its 50th anniversary on Saturday.
With the Harold “Doc” Dowling tournament taking centre stage at Bermuda College in a number of age groups, there was plenty of fierce on-court action with four teams, Northlands Primary Hotsteppers, Phoenix Sparks, Storm and NVCC, all competing in the under-11 age group.
While results in that age group are not published as it is considered a developmental league with a focus on enjoyment and skills building, Phoenix Embers under-14s team will be delighted that their age category results are known after winning all three of their matches.
Embers beat NVCC 4-2, Storm 4-1 and Rangers 6-3 to record a clean sweep of victories. They finished ahead of Storm, who won their other two matches.
While Storm were out of luck in the under-14 division, they were the biggest winners of the day in the under-17 category, beating NVCC Red 8-1. Dandy Stars won a close-fought match against NVCC White 5-4. Phoenix Fire also beat NVCC White 6-3.
