Editorial - Unfunny fish
This election, as reported recently, will be remembered as the one in which Bermuda truly entered the Internet age, with websites, e-mail, blogs, Facebook, YouTube and the like playing a major role in advertising and campaigning.
It seems unlikely that they will replace old fashioned doorstep campaigning, but they give both parties a way to spread their messages and to react quickly to events.
It is perhaps inevitable that mistakes will be made along the way.
At times, some of the Progressive Labour Party blog postings have been misleading, and yesterday the United Bermuda Party released a cartoon on its website that was more mystifying than anything else. Funny it was not.
Fortunately for the UBP, a sense of humour is not an absolute requirement for governing, although it helps. In the meantime, it would be wise to drop the cartoon, and quickly.
