Allan D Marshall was elected to the House of Assembly in the general election of November 9, 1998. Previously, he had served for a year in the Senate.

Mr Marshall was born in Bermuda, the son of the late William Marshall and his wife Blanche, of Smith’s Parish. He was educated at Saltus Grammar School, then at St Andrew’s Preparatory School in 1974, and finally at Princeton University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science in 1978.

Mr Marshall began his working career at the Bank of Bermuda in 1978. Before he left the Bank in 1991, he had served as Deputy Manager of the Treasury Department and, for seven years, as manager of the Treasury Department of the Bank’s Hong Kong office.

Mr Marshall was Corporate Secretary and Portfolio Manager of Chevron International Limited from 1991 to 1992. From 1992 until 1996, he was President of Bermuda’s first bottled water company - Pure Water Bermuda Limited. From 1996 to 1997, he was Vice-President of water treatment and plumbing services at Bermuda Waterworks Limited. From 1997 to 1999, he was President of ClearWater Systems Limited, a company that offers water treatment products and services. In November, 1999, he was appointed Director of Marketing and Investor Services at Argent Financial Group (Bermuda) Limited, an investment management company with offices in Durham, North Carolina and Greenwich, Connecticut.

Mr Marshall and dentist Dr Kietny Chrun were married in August, 1988. They have two children, a daughter, Kaliane, born in 1989 and a son, Jesse, born in 1993.

Mr Marshall is the former Shadow Minister of Development & Opportunity and Telecommunications & E-Commerce. He served on the Boards of the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation, from 1993-97, and the Bermuda Land Development Company from 1996-97. He was a member of the Government’s Committee on Franchises in Bermuda, a member of the Big Brother/Big Sister Programme from 1979-82 and a member of the United Bermuda Party’s Smith’s North Branch from 1991. Since 1997, he has been a volunteer reader in Cedarbridge Academy’s Read to Succeed programme.

In 1970, he represented Bermuda at the CONCACAF Youth Soccer Tournament in Havana, Cuba. In 1972, he was a Youth Delegate to the Munich Olympics and, in 1980 he represented the Senior National Soccer Team in the Pan American Games in Bermuda.

Mr Marshall is a Director of Argent Financial Group (Bermuda) Ltd and its related companies, and an independent Director of various Investment Holding and Trust Companies. He is a member of the Mid Ocean Club. He is above all a family man and enjoys soccer, golf, swimming, reading, music and tennis.
