The Corporation of Hamilton’s management and administrative staff will now receive representation from Bermuda Public Services Union as Mayor Charles Gosling warned of “changing and uncertain” times.Mr Gosling and BPSU president and general secretary Kevin Grant and Ed Ball signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Wednesday to move those workers in line with the rest of the City’s staff.Office staff were already represented by the BPSU and industrial staff by Bermuda Industrial Union. The municipality is bracing itself for reform after Government last year passed laws changing voting rules and the way wharfage fees are collected.Signing the memorandum with the union, Mr Gosling said in a statement: “With a changing and uncertain work environment, it is important for all staff to have a sense of security that this benefit will bring.”Mr Grant stated: “The BPSU has maintained a good working relationship with the City of Hamilton.“The signing of the MOU further extends our relationship and provides union representation for the senior-most and administrative staff.”
