Michael Dunkley wins political poll but not the kind you would think

Michael Dunkley tops the polls as the politician residents would most like to kiss under the mistletoe, if they had to choose, according to a MindMaps poll. The One Bermuda Alliance Senator got 14 percent of the vote from respondents who were asked “If you had to choose one of the following politicians to meet and kiss under the mistletoe this Christmas, who would you choose?”Senator Dunkley beat out Premier Paula Cox, who came second overall, by one percentage point. But Premier Cox was by far the most popular among 18 34 years old 25 percent of whom felt they could pucker up with her under the mistletoe this Christmas. The OBA’s Louise Jackson made the top six in the list of 13, with 8 percent of respondents voting for her.And the Progressive Labour Party’s Marc Bean ranked at the bottom with a solitary one percent vote.OBA Leader Craig Cannonier fared much better with 9 percent of the overall vote but was edged out by former Premier Sir John Swan (11 percent) and Attorney General Kim Wilson (12 percent).Among male respondents, Ms Wilson was most popular, with 21 percent choosing her, followed by the Premier (17 percent), Louise Jackson (12 percent) and Michael Dunkley (11 percent).Twenty one percent of women chose Mr Cannonier, compared to 17 percent for Mr Dunkley and 16 percent for Ms Jackson.Respondents were also given a chance to choose “other”.A remarkable three people said “All of them” while one wrote “I would put the mistletoe on my backside and they can kiss it”.Two other respondents wanted no mistletoe encounters with any of our politicians. One said: “No politician this year, maybe next year if things turn around”. The other responded: “Can I just kiss a frog?”Politicians huddled with their advisers for two days when asked for comment. In the end they were united in maintaining a stony, dignified silence.
