Premier Cox is honoured
Premier Paula Cox has been named honorary chairwoman of the Atlanta-based World Chamber of Commerce.She learned of the appointment at the organisation’s international economic and environmental summit in Atlanta last week.“Although it was a personal trip, Bermuda benefited as it was yet another opportunity to showcase Bermuda and the tangible business opportunities in Bermuda,” she said.“I believe they (the WCC) saw Bermuda as a vacationer’s paradise but had not actually factored in that we were a centre of commerce, whether for energy, capital investment or infrastructure development.”The Atlanta-based World Chamber of Commerce describes itself as a charity fostering international business, cultural and social exchange worldwide.Founded by Atlanta businesswoman Solange Warner in 2008, it draws much of its membership from Georgia.It is not connected with the International Chambers of Commerce, which governs Chambers of Commerce around the world.
