Swan: I’m staying Independent
Independent candidate Charlie Swan yesterday promised that he would remain an independent MP if reelected.The former UBP member stated: “Following this election as an Independent candidate, I will remain an Independent candidate throughout the duration of my term.“In that capacity as an Independent, I would be willing to consider a role of Speaker, Deputy Speaker, or in a coalition depending on the outcome or, as can be, in remain in Opposition.“In all cases I am here to serve the people as I have done to date. [Independent candidate] Kim Swan and I both agree with these sentiments.”Mr Swan is defending his Southampton South West seat against the OBA’s Shawn Crockwell and the PLP’s Scott Simmons.He said both he and Mr Swan have a history of holding the PLP Government accountable, and have represented the interests of all people.
