PLP to host Founders’ Day Luncheon on Sunday

The Opposition Progressive Labour Party hosts its 50th Annual Founders’ Day Luncheon & Drum Major Awards this Sunday at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.Guest speaker for the event, which starts at 2pm, is lawyer Eugene Johnston.“Mr Johnston is a young lawyer, whose workload has had an emphasis on public law, constitutional matters, and human rights,” said a PLP spokesman. “Mr Johnston is also well known for speaking in various forums on the subjects of African culture, racism and white supremacy and its current impact, and on black economics and empowerment.”Drum Major Awards will be handed out following Mr Johnston’s speech.“These drum majors are members of the community that have worked tirelessly in the community,” the spokesman continued. “The PLP has annually honoured some of these members of the community for their contribution.”Tickets for the event are available at Alaska Hall and are $65 for general entrance and $130 for patrons. Corporate packages, at $1,500, are also available.People are also invited to attend a service at St Paul AME Church that day, at 11am.
