OBA trumpets achievements ahead of Parliament restart
The One Bermuda Alliance has produced a 54-point summary of its achievements since it became the Government after winning last December’s general election.
In a full-page paid advertisement on Page 3 of today’s Royal Gazette, the party says it has launched a raft of initiatives which represent its aims of “recovery, reform and renewal”.
At the top of the list, payroll tax exemptions “to boost the hiring of Bermudians” are trumpeted. This is followed by reminders that the new administration “passed the Human Rights Amendment Act to eliminate discrimination on the basis of age and sexual orientation” and also “cut Cabinet Ministers’ pay by 10%”.
At the foot of the list is a statement from Premier Craig Cannonier, which reads: “Everything the Government is doing today is to promote the recovery and renewal of Bermuda; to make it work better for people, providing jobs and careers, safe streets and a system that gives everyone equal opportunity to succeed.”
The advert comes on the eve of tomorrow’s convening of Parliament, when Government will outline its agenda for the coming year.
