Mud flies during heated motion to adjourn

Opposition leader Marc Bean yesterday said he would bring a motion of censure against two OBA MPs for their role in the Jetgate row.

The PLP leader spoke during a mud-slinging and heated motion to adjourn.

Mr Bean said that the motion would seek to censure former Attorney General Mark Pettingill and Tourism Minister Shawn Crockwell, who travelled with ex-Premier Craig Cannonier and his business associate Stephen DaCosta to a US meeting with tycoon Nathan Landow on the businessman’s private jet.

Mr Cannonier resigned — after admitting a “failure over time to be completely transparent” — but repeated that nothing illegal had transpired over the meeting with Mr Landow and associates, held last year to discuss potential investment in the Island.

Mr Crockwell said: “I’ve been clear in this House concerning my involvement in the meetings that took place in Washington DC back in March of 2013. I have not misled the House at all on this issue and I have been clear in the informations I was aware of.

“If there is evidence of wrongdoing and illegality, I invite the Opposition to bring it.”
