Hundreds of families have signed up to an energy-saving programme, regulatory minister Walter Roban revealed today.
Mr Roban said 220 homes have connected to the grid and 65 are using solar water heating, as a result of rebates to encourage residential solar power.
The rebate is to be amended to install energy saving steps, including water heater timers and LED lights, for seniors and low income households.
Mr Roban told the House of Assembly a sliding scale rebate will be introduced for properties to install solar photovoltaic power generators.
It intends to create business and retain cash otherwise spent on fuel from overseas.
