Roadside sobriety tests have resulted in 49 arrests since the programme was launched, the House of Assembly heard this morning.
Wayne Caines, the Minister of National Security, said that about 100 vehicles were stopped at each location each night.
He added that the locations were strategically placed so that they were not easily avoided by motorists.
Mr Caines said the “overwhelming majority” of those arrested are men, and called the trend “particularly concerning”.
