Senator questions how many College scholars graduate
An Opposition senator questioned how many Bermuda College students on government scholarships had graduated.
Marcus Jones, the Opposition Senate Leader, yesterday quizzed Owen Darrell, senator and Junior Minister for the Cabinet Office, Education, and Public Works, who gave a statement on its annual report, tabled in the Senate yesterday.
Mr Jones asked how many students received scholarships adding: “There is a perception that a number of our students that attend the college and have enjoyed a government scholarship do not actually finish.”
Mr Jones also asked what percentage of graduates from high school meet the standards to get into the Bermuda College.
Mr Darrell said he would have to report back on the questions.
Also in the Senate yesterday, an extension of Covid-19 laws into January of next year was tabled.
Lindsay Simmons tabled the Registry General Annual Report for the Year Ended 31 December 2019 and Curtis Richardson tabled the Bermuda Educators Council (Exemptions) (2020 To 2021 School Year) Order 2020, and the Bermuda Educators Council (Exemptions) (2020 To 2021 School Year) Order 2020.
