OBA highlights Bermuda’s positive relationship with US
The leader of the Opposition highlighted Bermuda’s positive relationship with the US in a meeting with new US Consul General Karen Grissette.
Senators Ben Smith and Marcus Jones attended the one-hour meeting alongside Cole Simons, the One Bermuda Alliance leader.
A One Bermuda Alliance spokeswoman said: “The overarching objective was to keep the lines of communication open with the new counsel and to highlight Bermuda’s positive contributions to the US.”
Topics under discussion included global tax harmonisation and tax transparency agreements between Bermuda, the US, and other OECD countries, and Bermuda's aim to become the centre of excellence for global climate change risks.
The delegation also highlighted Bermuda’s economic support and positive contribution to the US economy through its financial services, global life, and reinsurance industries.
