Lady Langley, wife of the late former Governor of Bermuda Sir Desmond Langley, was commemorated in the House of Assembly on Friday.

Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, paid tribute to Lady Langley, who died on December 15 while the House was in recess.

Her husband, who predeceased her in 2008, appointed Colonel Burch to second in command of the Bermuda Regiment in 1990.

Colonel Burch, who was then a senator and Minister of Labour, Home Affairs and Housing, attended Sir Desmond’s funeral in England.

He told MPs he remembered Sir Desmond, who served from 1988 to 1992, as the island’s last good Governor.

Lady Felicity, who was affectionately known as Flick, was the former Felicity Joan Oliphant, born in 1928. The couple were married in 1950.
