Digital business updates come up for discussion in the House of Assembly as MPs return today with two Bills up for debate.

A motion for the dissolution of the Bermuda Land Development Company will be brought by Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the public works minister.

The move will allow for the merger of the BLDC with the West End Development Corporation – announced in the House last July.

The island’s digital business regime acquires a new class along with heightened Bermuda Monetary Authority oversight of service providers with the second reading of the Digital Asset Business Amendment Act 2023.

The Companies Amendment Bill 2023 will cut red tape for companies licensed for business in Bermuda under 2018 digital asset legislation.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, is to update MPs on reforms to financial assistance, while Colonel Burch will speak on this year’s return of the Agricultural Exhibition.

Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, delivers a statement on education reforms – with plans for an overhaul of East End schools currently facing a tough sell with many parents.

The electrification of Bermuda’s public bus fleet will be marked by Wayne Furbert, the Minister of Transport.

Statements are expected from Michael Weeks, the national security minister, on the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coast Guard; while Vance Campbell, the Cabinet office minister, will give details of Bermuda’s commemorative stamp for the coronation of King Charles III.
