MPs offer best wishes to King on eve of coronation
Bermuda’s House of Assembly moved today to send the island’s best to King Charles III ahead of the coronation ceremony — Britain’s first in 70 years.
Walter Roban, the Deputy Premier, delivered “our heartiest congratulations and best wishes” on behalf of all MPs, through Government House, to “King Charles III and the Queen Consort Camilla on their coronation”.
Mr Roban spoke at the end of the day’s business in Parliament with David Burt already in London with Rena Lalgie, the Governor.
The service at Westminster Abbey is to start at 11am GMT.
Mr Roban said: “May you enjoy a long and happy reign.”
Earlier, Cole Simons, the Leader of the Opposition, congratulated the King and Queen Consort and also congratulated the members of the Royal Bermuda Regiment and Bermuda Police Service who are taking part in the coronation parade.
The coronation parade begins at 6am Bermuda time tomorrow and the coronation service begins at 7am.
