Live: House of Assembly to hear economic and tourism data

Legislators will return to the House of Assembly today when nine ministerial statements on topics such as economic performance and the protection of children are expected to be delivered.

MPs will hear from David Burt about his participation earlier this month in a meeting of the Joint Ministerial Council, the highest political forum between the UK Government and Overseas Territories governments.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, is to tell the House about Bermuda’s fourth quarter economic performance as well as the expansion of summer employment programmes.

Minister of Social Development and Seniors Tinée Furbert will give statements on the national child safeguarding policy and Foster Care Month activities.

Vance Campbell, the Minister of Tourism and the Cabinet Office, will talk about tourism measures for the first quarter of 2023.

Deputy Premier and Minister of Home Affairs Walter Roban will highlight the importance of mangroves to the island’s biodiversity and public works minister Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch will give a statement about sustainable water management.

Kathy Lynn Simmons, the Attorney-General and Minister of Legal Affairs and Constitutional Reform, is to provide an update on the Financial Sanctions Implementation Unit.

The Royal Gazette will run live coverage of the session, which will also include debates on legislation, below.
