The One Bermuda Alliance has announced Glenn Tucker and Thomas Harvey as two new adopted candidates.

Mr Tucker, adopted for Constituency 17, Pembroke Central, is an avid photographer best known for his career as an award-winning photojournalist.

An OBA spokeswoman said that his photography skills and “love for all things Bermuda” allowed him to engage with all walks of life across the island.

Mr Tucker now works as the Bermuda manager for an international financial management business and is also employed at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa in Hamilton Parish.

He serves on several charitable boards, including the Mirrors Programme and the Bermuda Lab Academy, which focuses on educating children with neurological disorders.

The OBA spokeswoman said that Mr Tucker believed life was about serving the community, which he has demonstrated through his work with organisations such as the US-based Shriners Hospital for Children and the Freemasons.

Mr Tucker said: “If elected to Parliament, I will focus on enhancing our island’s tourism industry, which is vital if we hope to improve Bermuda’s economic future.

“I am proud to be the candidate for Constituency 17, as I am a resident there and I want to do all I can to assist my community.”

Mr Tucker attended Saltus Grammar School, The Berkeley Institute, and Fryeburg Academy in Maine.

He attended Allen University in South Carolina where he studied business administration and photography for two years before returning to Bermuda.

He is a father of two daughters, aged 18 and 10, and is a keen sportsman and DJ outside work.

Mr Harvey has been adopted as the OBA candidate for Constituency 2, St George’s West.

He has deep roots within the East End, with generations of his family hailing from St George’s and St David’s.

Mr Harvey attended East End Primary and St George’s Secondary School, where he adopted carpentry as his main trade.

He then went on to complete an apprenticeship with the Department of Public Works before launching his own company, Strike Force Carpentry.

Mr Harvey branched out his business into Strike Force Construction, Excavating and General Trucking, and became the first person to have a crane truck on the island.

He has led the St George’s Parish Council as its chairman for several years and considers himself, according to the OBA spokeswoman, as a “leader and a consensus builder,” as well as “a team player always willing to step in where his abilities will let him”.

Mr Harvey was an avid sportsman growing up, having participated in softball and American football and sailing comets at the East End Mini Yacht Club where he father was a Commodore.

He was also active in the Wellington Road neighbourhood, where he was often seen fishing, swimming, or playing cricket.

Mr Harvey considers himself a hard worker since he was a boy, having grown up working at Dowling’s Cycles during the summer and packing groceries at Outerbridge’s, as well as working with his father at Horizons Guest Colony in Paget.

Mr Harvey has a wife, Loida, and two teenaged daughters, Aaliyah and Adriana. Aaliyah can sometimes be seen canvassing with her father.
