Karen Grissette reflects on term in Bermuda
A former US Consul-General in Bermuda reflected on her three years working on the island.
In a post on LinkedIn, Karen Grissette, who left the position last month, said: “It was the honour of a lifetime to represent the United States and work in partnership with [the Government and Governor] as we brought the US-Bermuda partnership to a new high.”
She highlighted new educational partnerships between the countries, such as the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences’ merger with Arizona State University in 2021, training forBermudian teachers in Williamsburg, Virginia, and several agreements involving Bermuda Collegeand US schools.
Ms Grissette wrote: “Thank you to the American partners, educators and speakers who answered the call to be ambassadors to the United States and bring Bermuda and the US closer together.
“So proud to increase US support for OutBermuda, for art in Bermuda at Masterworks and the National Gallery, with the Bermuda National Trust; proud to advance Bermuda-US athletics partnerships with the Bermuda Tourism Authority and Hazel Clark and with all the faith communities of Bermuda.”
She concluded: “Bermuda, you gave our family lifelong friends and yet another place to call home.
“Thanks for an unforgettable three years; now on to the next assignment.”
