A five-member cross-parliamentary group has been tasked with investigating the September 2023 cyberattack that knocked out the Government’s IT systems.

The establishment of a joint select committee was agreed upon last May in the House of Assembly after a motion was put forward by Vance Campbell, who was then the Minister of the Cabinet Office.

The JSC will be chaired by Lawrence Scott, a Progressive Labour Party backbencher, with PLP MPs Scott Simmons and Anthony Richardson.

They will be joined by One Bermuda Alliance MP Robert King and Dwayne Robinson, an opposition senator.

The committee, which will be self-governing, was announced on Friday by Dennis Lister, the Speaker of the House.

JSCs are required to submit a report to the House before the end of a parliamentary session.

However, if they find themselves unable to conclude their investigations before the end of the session, the committee must report that fact.
