Long night ahead for MPs as House of Assembly resumes
Parliamentarians are in for a long session when the House of Assembly resumes this morning.
The legislature officially reconvened last week after the summer break, with the Governor, Rena Lalgie, delivering the Government’s Throne Speech. But parliamentary business was set aside before lunch once that ceremony concluded.
MPs will get down to the real business of running the country today.
At the top of the order paper is the Opposition’s Reply to the Throne Speech, which will be delivered by One Bermuda Alliance leader Jarion Richardson.
In addition, 11 government ministers will give statements updating the public on progress within their ministries during the summer break.
A number of finance Bills will be tabled, including proposed amendments to payroll tax and pension legislation.
The Digital Asset Business Amendment Act 2024, tabled by David Burt, the Premier and Minister of Finance, will also be debated.
