The opening of Parliament, a ceremony steeped in tradition, is set for this morning, when the legislative agenda for the upcoming year will be delivered before the public.
The formal proceedings start at 10.30am when members of the House and Senate, judiciary, Public Service executive, and other invited guests gather to hear the Speech from the Throne, delivered by Andrew Murdoch, the Governor.
The previous Throne Speech was delivered in November, but the legislature was dissolved in January in accordance with the Bermuda Constitution when the General Election was called for February 18.
It is expected that this year’s speech will include elements from the Progressive Labour Party’s election platform.
