Former Torus Insurance Holdings chief operating officer Andrew Turnbull has joined Bermuda rival PartnerRe to take the newly-created position of group strategy and business development officer.Mr Turnbull will report to PartnerRe CEO Costas Miranthis. In this position, he will help guide the company’s strategic planning and development, including evaluation of business opportunities.Mr Turnbull has more than 21 years’ experience in the re/insurance industry in a variety of underwriting and actuarial roles. Most recently he was chief actuary as well as COO at Torus. Before that, Mr Turnbull was the chief operating officer and chief underwriting officer of XL Financial Solutions.Mr Miranthis said: “Andrew is a seasoned professional with deep technical knowledge and experience in the insurance and reinsurance markets. His focus on strategy and business development will ensure the company continues to effectively position itself in a changing environment and enhance our ability to meet our long-term goal of superior growth in dividend-adjusted book value per share.”
