Iron-Starr CEO Smith leaves to take new role in Boston
Iron-Starr Excess Agency Ltd announced last night that its CEO Geoff Smith had moved from Bermuda to another role with parent company Ironshore in Boston.Ironshore, whose head office in at 141 Front Street, said in a statement last night that Stuart Anderson had been promoted to CEO to replace Mr Smith, and would provide strategic direction and programme oversight of the Iron-Starr Financial Lines and Excess Casualty divisions.“Mr Smith, the former CEO of Iron-Starr who was instrumental in the creation and launch of the entity, will assume the role of executive vice-president, strategic initiatives, for Ironshore, based in Boston, Massachusetts,” Ironshore stated.“In this position, Mr Smith will work in cooperation with the Ironshore executive management team to explore new ventures to support the company’s worldwide expansion strategy.”Ironshore also announced that Eric Kittleson had been appointed chief underwriting officer of Iron-Starr, responsible for continued expansion of the agency’s business in Bermuda. Michael Warwicker will be resigning from Iron-Starr “to pursue other interests”.“As Iron-Starr embarks on its fourth year of operation, these management changes will further align the existing team of leadership with business growth opportunities on the horizon,” said Ironshore CEO Kevin Kelley.“This unique platform between Ironshore and Starr Insurance & Reinsurance Ltd provides a syndicated approach for meeting the increasingly complex insurance needs of our clients.”Iron-Starr is a joint venture between Ironshore and Marice (Hank) Greenberg’s CV Starr & Co that was formed in 2009 as a specialty lines insurance managing general underwriting agency, domiciled in Bermuda.
