RIMS Conference launches mobile app
Hundreds of insurance execs will soon be making their way from Bermuda to Philadelphia for the 50th annual RIMS (Risk Insurance Management Society) Conference, which starts this Sunday. And this year many of them will be downloading a certain app to their phone or iPad before they go.For the first time ever, the conference has launched its own mobile app that provides late-breaking news and updates, detailed event information, speaker bios, a comprehensive listing of the 400-plus exhibitors, an interactive expo map and integration with RIMS social media forums. The app is free and compatible with iPhones, iPads, iPod Touch, BlackBerries and other smartphones.Every year, the RIMS conference attracts some 10,000 insurance professionals — brokers, underwriters and executives with risk management interests. The four-day event offers more than 120 educational sessions, keynote speakers and special events. For event this size, Danielle SanMarco, the project leader for the RIMS 2012 Mobile App said developing an app for the conference was a no-brainer. “Mobile applications are here to stay and it’s our way to connect with attendees,” she said. “RIMS has become synonymous with world-class connections and the RIMS ’12 mobile app provides a vehicle to leverage those relationships and create a more robust conference experience for attendees and exhibitors alike.”The app allows attendees to enter their schedule, see their colleagues’ schedules and figure out where they’re supposed to go for various meetings and events. Another useful feature is the mapping tool, which will help attendees find various restaurants in Philadelphia and see where they are relation to their hotel. To download the app on an Apple or Android device, visit the App Store or Google Play and search for “RIMS2012”.
