Ace cuts three more jobs
More jobs have been cut at Ace Bermuda, The Royal Gazette has learned.A spokesperson for the company said yesterday that three more positions have been eliminated as a result of restructuring of Ace’s administration and facilities functions.Two of the individuals are Bermudian, the third is a spouse of a Bermudian.This is the second round of layoffs in as many months for the company. In late April, Ace eliminated three positions and created one new position to provide a combination of HR support roles.A company spokesperson then said the goal was efficiency and that the company restructured its HR function to more efficiently serve the needs of the company.In 2010, Ace announced 17 jobs would be cut with those employees leaving the company in 2011. These latest positions cut were not included in that figure, nor were the jobs cut in April.Ace Ltd started its business in Bermuda 26 years ago, but moved its holding company from the Cayman Islands to Switzerland three years ago. The company has operations in more than 50 countries and still has substantial insurance and reinsurance operations on the Island.
