Butterfield appointed to Endurance board
HSBC Bermuda chairman Philip Butterfield has been named a director of international re/insurer Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. Bermuda-based Endurance said today Mr Butterfield had joined its board as a non-executive director.
Mr Butterfield was chief executive officer of HSBC Bank Bermuda Ltd from February 2004 until May 2012, before he became chairman. Before this, Mr Butterfield was the bank’s chief operating officer.
Mr Butterfield joined HSBC in 2000 as chief administration officer. He had previously held a number of senior positions in Private Banking, Corporate Banking, Operations and Technology, and Human Resources with Citibank, which he joined in 1972.
Mr Butterfield is also chairman of the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust, a member of the Steering Committee for Bermuda First, president of Bermuda Health Foundation, chairman of the Victor Scott School Alumni Association and a board member of the Bank of Bermuda Foundation, Johns Hopkins Medicine and the American Classical Orchestra.
