Fundraising efforts by the BFIS Alumni Association over the past year have raised enough money to fund a scholarship worth $10,000.

That scholarship has been was awarded to Zoe Wright at the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies’ awards reception.

The association’s Denim Day in May proved to be particularly successful, raising almost $9,500. The companies who took part were Allied World, Arch Insurance, Argo, Argus, Ariel Re, Aspen, BMA, BF&M, Chubb, Colonial, Deloitte, Expertise, Hamilton Re, Hiscox, Partner Re, RenaissanceRe, Validus, XL Catlin and Zurich.

Donita Stevens, co-chair of the BFIS Alumni Committee, expressed gratitude to the participating companies and noted that several companies also gave matching donations which was very much appreciated. She said the committee hoped to be able to raise money in future years to continue to fund an annual scholarship.
