Ironshore promotes pair to top Bermuda roles
Ironshore has promoted two of its island-based staff to top-level management roles.
The insurer has named Steve Horton as the chief executive officer of Iron-Starr and Susan Pateras as chief operating officer of Ironshore Bermuda.
“Steve and Susan bring a wealth of experience to their respective new roles and have a proven track record of contribution to the success of Ironshore. I am delighted to promote such talent internally,” Mr Blaser said.
As CEO of Iron-Starr, Mr Horton will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s operations across its three core business lines, providing specialty excess insurance products.
He will continue to serve as head of Iron-Excess, Ironshore’s newly announced initiative to expand into London and US markets.
In addition, Liam Jones will be promoted to financial lines manager, reporting to Mr Horton.
Ms Pateras will now be responsible for business development on behalf of all Bermuda profit centres, driving strategic directives across the group, coordinating operational functions, as well as managing collaboration with broker partners and other key stakeholders for Ironshore Bermuda.
She will remain head of Iron-Starr’s healthcare practice, overseeing ongoing initiatives and business development. Shane Rozario will assume a broader role in Bermuda as director of insurance and claims operations, reporting to Ms Pateras.
“Ironshore Bermuda operations continue to build out its platform for providing specialty market access to reliable capacity for the syndication of risk,” Kevin Kelley, CEO of Ironshore, said. “We congratulate Steve and Susan, both of whom have played pivotal roles in the expansion of dedicated business lines throughout their tenure with the company.”

He completed the Programme for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School and received his undergraduate degree at the University of Westminster.
Ms Pateras joined Iron-Starr Excess Agency Ltd in April 2013. She has more than 22 years’ experience in the healthcare industry in London, New York and Bermuda.
Previously, she was senior vice-president with Integro Bermuda Ltd and with Willis Bermuda Ltd.
