Guy Carpenter hires two executives from Aon

Global risk and reinsurance specialists Guy Carpenter have appointed Robert Johnston as chairman of their Bermuda operations, and Peter Komposch as head of casualty and specialty, Bermuda, with immediate effect.

Both men join Guy Carpenter from Aon Reinsurance Solutions.

Mr Johnston, who has nearly 20 years’ experience in Bermuda, was most recently president of Aon Reinsurance Solutions in Bermuda.

He will report to John Trace, chief executive officer of North America, and Kevin Fisher, chairman of UK and Global Specialties and chairman of London North America, the company said.

Mr Komposch, who was previously managing director of Aon Reinsurance Solutions, will report directly to Mr Johnston and John Fletcher, chief executive officer of Bermuda.

Mr Trace said: “I am delighted to welcome Robert and Peter to Guy Carpenter. These appointments create an exciting opportunity to further build on our team, significantly increasing Guy Carpenter’s casualty expertise in Bermuda while deepening the connection to Guy Carpenter’s colleagues in North America and London.”

The company said that the appointments form part of the organisation’s continuing investment in its Bermuda operations as it looks to further enhance its position in the region and maximise the significant growth potential that Bermuda offers.

As part of the strengthening of its Bermuda platform, the company said, it announced that Mr Fletcher — who has led the Guy Carpenter team in Bermuda since 2018 — has been appointed as CEO of Bermuda. He will continue to report to James Boyce, CEO of Global Specialties.

In addition, Jonathan Ogilvie has been appointed to head of retrocession, Bermuda, while Chris Dart has been appointed to head of property treaty, Bermuda.

The appointments of Mr Fletcher, Mr Ogilvie and Mr Dart are subject to approval from the Department of Immigration, the company said.

Mr Fisher said: “We see considerable opportunity for growth in Bermuda overall and specifically the casualty sector. By bringing together this exceptional team of broking talent under Robert and John’s leadership we are perfectly positioned to access that potential.”

He added: “Moving forward, we will continue to create market-advancing, client-centric solutions that will serve to boost our service delivery capabilities and help us strengthen existing relationships as well as forge new ones.”
