Maamoun Rajeh has been appointed a director of the board of Women in Reinsurance, the organisation for professional women employed in the Bermuda reinsurance sector. He succeeds Stephen Young in the position.
Mr Rajeh is chairman and chief executive officer of Arch Worldwide Reinsurance Group.
Peta White, chairwoman of WiRe, said: “I am thrilled to welcome Maamoun to WiRe’s board. As our board moves to provide more targeted programmes and training to support out members we will certainly benefit from having another highly accomplished corporate executive join our board.
“Maamoun is well known in the reinsurance sector and brings a wealth of experience and diversity of thought to the table. We look forward to his support as we continue to develop WiRe’s brand and membership.”
She added: “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Stephen for his dedication and contributions to WiRe.
“He embraced the role with enthusiasm and actively promoted WiRe’s mission to the reinsurance community. We look forward to his continued support.”
Mr Rajeh joined Arch during its formation in 2001 and has held various roles including head of specialty, chief underwriting officer and eventually CEO of Arch Re Bermuda before being promoted to the position of chairman and CEO of Arch Worldwide Reinsurance Group in October 2017.
Mr Rajeh said: “WiRe’s mission mirrors initiatives we are championing at Arch so I am very excited to have the opportunity to share ideas and work with the other members to find ways to support diversity in the broader reinsurance community.”
