Roy is new COO at Canopius Group
Canopius Group, the global specialty re/insurer with an operation in Bermuda, has appointed Kate Roy as chief operating officer.
The company said that Ms Roy will assume her role early next year and report to Neil Robertson, deputy chief executive officer.
Canopius said that Ms Roy is a highly experienced COO having worked in broker and carrier organisations as well as an outsource service provider during her 33-year career.
She joins from Willis Towers Watson, where, since 2015, she has held the role of COO for Great Britain and Willis Ltd. Ms Roy previously held senior positions at AIG and Capita Insurance Services.
Canopius said that Ms Roy has a proven track record of leading and delivering complex and transformational operational solutions in business units across multiple geographies.
With a strong client-centric approach and focus on efficiency, the company said, Ms Roy is also a staunch advocate for technological and digital solutions, as shown by her involvement on the PPL board since the platform’s inception.
Mr Robertson said: “Kate is hugely experienced across the gamut of global re/insurance, with a firm understanding of our business and the markets we operate in.
“Kate will help shape our future operating model and her energy and enthusiasm will be an asset to our positive distinctive culture and will undoubtedly help us realise Canopius’s future ambition.”
Canopius is a global specialty re/insurer with underwriting operations in Australia, Bermuda, China, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.
It underwrites through Lloyd’s Syndicate 4444 (managed by Canopius Managing Agents Limited), a US surplus lines insurer, Canopius US Insurance Inc and Canopius Reinsurance Ltd, a Bermuda-based Class 4 reinsurer.
