Hoffmann takes new role at James River
Mike Hoffman has joined Bermuda-based James River Group Holdings Ltd as group chief underwriting officer.
In a newly created role, the company said, Mr Hoffmann will lead a team with responsibility for underwriting, enterprise risk and ceded reinsurance strategy across the group.
He joins James River most recently from Everest, where he was head of risk and ceded re.
Earlier, Mr Hoffman spent 15 years with Allied World Assurance, where he most recently served as global Insurance chief underwriting officer.
Before that, he spent 14 years with Chubb in a variety of roles in the United States and Bermuda.
At James River he will report into chief executive officer Frank D’Orazio, who said: “It is very exciting to welcome Mike to James River.
“With over 30 years of deep property and casualty underwriting and risk expertise, he is the right person to lead this key function. I am looking forward to working with him again.”
James River is a Bermuda-based insurance holding company that owns and operates a group of specialty insurance and reinsurance companies.
The company operates in three specialty property-casualty insurance and reinsurance segments: excess and surplus lines, specialty admitted insurance and casualty reinsurance.
