Sun Life donates $70,000 to Bermuda charities
Sun Life International is donating $70,000 to Bermudian charities through the Sun Life International's Charitable Giving Committee, which consists exclusively of Bermuda-based employees.
This year funds were awarded to 25 Bermuda registered charities.
The grants, which range in size from $1,000 to $10,000, will benefit organisations focusing on education, mental health, the fight against Covid, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and also fund cancer research.
Donna Cotter, CEO of Sun Life International, said: "This donation continues our good tradition of supporting communities where we live and work.
“Being a responsible corporate citizen, we feel the need to increase our support this year to help fight against Covid, address poverty and hunger, and other good causes.”
Headquartered in Bermuda, Sun Life International donates funds to various charity organisations in Bermuda every year.
In recent years, Sun Life supported Back-to-School fundraisers, sponsored Team Bermuda at the NatWest Island Games, took part in beach cleaning campaigns and food drives, as well as many other important initiatives.
“Sun Life's presence on the island dates back over 100 years," said Duarte de Frias, AVP, Relationship Management and Controller, Sun Life International.
“We are proud of being able to contribute to the wellbeing of our fellow Bermudians and see it as an utmost priority.”
The new donation pledge is in addition to donations to Bermudian charities, announced by Sun Life's global parent company in Canada earlier this year.
