Enstar donates $100,000 to Ukrainian relief
Staff at Enstar insurance have donated $50,000 to Ukrainian relief, the majority of the contributions coming from Bermuda.
Enstar matched staff generosity with a $50,000 donation to the Red Cross’s Ukrainian relief effort.
The Russian attack on Ukraine on February 24 is internationally considered an act of aggression, and has triggered a refugee crisis. Millions have been forced from their homes and are displaced.
Enstar said that with the crisis growing in the Ukraine they could not just sit back and do nothing. The vast majority of staff donated to the Red Cross, which was promoted internally on the intranet, while others donated to charities such as Unicef.
The Red Cross in Ukraine is providing medical assistance and help for vulnerable and injured Ukrainians. It is also distributing food and hygiene products and helping to evacuate the disabled.
Enstar and its employees raised the money in just under two weeks.
Enstar president Paul O’Shea said the company was “deeply saddened” by the growing humanitarian crisis in the Ukraine.
“Our thoughts go out to all those impacted,” he said. “We strongly believe in the importance of supporting relief efforts and the Red Cross’s mission to deliver essential supplies to Ukraine is a vital cause that we agreed to contribute to here at Enstar. We are grateful to our employees for their generosity, and we hope that our collective donations will in some way help.”
Enstar, in Bermuda since 1996, is located on Queen Street in Hamilton and has 63 employees.
