Nayms appoints head of capital markets
Nayms, the Bermudian-based marketplace for crypto-native insurance, has appointed Nick Zagoreos as head of capital markets.
The company said that Mr Zagoreos brings a wealth of experience in hedge funds, ILS and most recently a breadth of capital raising for new initiatives through his advisory firm, Korthi Capital.
Mr Zagoreos brings his 25-plus years of experience to the growing Nayms marketplace, being responsible for supporting Nayms insurance partners with their capital-raising efforts and scaling the available capacity on Nayms for new programmes.
Nayms said he will be connecting with crypto-venture firms, hedge funds and family offices as the company introduces insurance as a regulated asset class to the cryptocurrency market.
Mr Zagoreos has recently grown an interest in the digital-asset world through his involvement with a liquid crypto investment strategy as well as a fund platform backed by a sovereign wealth fund.
He has extensive experience in the traditional and alternative capital-raising space, having worked at Lazard, MAN/GLG and Third Point Re.
Mr Zagoreos will now be working with Nayms’ capital-raising partners to support various insurance participants or “sponsors” as they set up and scale their on-chain balance sheets on the Nayms’ network.
Nayms said it provides a fully regulated bridge for the insurance sector to the $1 trillion-plus market of cryptocurrency capital. The company said Mr Zagoreos will be a key player in introducing this new innovation to the insurance space.
Mr Zagoreos said: “I am super excited to be involved with a company which will help bring the insurance and reinsurance space to the digital world. Nayms will be a key component in the backbone and trust of the digital-assets space.”
Adam Adamson, Nayms’ head of business development, said: “Nick will bring a vast amount of insurance capital-raising expertise to Nayms and our Nayms business partners.
“His successful track record of capital raising for insurance companies will be a huge asset to Nayms, helping us introduce insurance as an asset class to the crypto community.”
