Athene Life Re Ltd., the reinsurance subsidiary of Athene Holding Ltd., donated $100,000 to Bermuda charities last year, as part of Athene’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community where employees live and work.

And the company said their community driven employees are hard at work, setting goals for 2023.

The Athene Life Re Charitable Committee’s contributions to over 13 local charities and organisations last year aligned with Athene’s philanthropic mission.

Highlights from the year included a donation of $30,000 to the Coalition for the Protection of Children. Pro bono legal support was also provided.

The company donated $10,000 to Vision Impact Bermuda to assist with the organisation’s critical needs programme.

Athene Life Re collected over 21,750 essential items and raised a total of $1,750 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters holiday drive. The company donated an additional $5,000 to further support organisation initiatives.

Habitat for Humanity was also a beneficiary through a donation of $6,350 towards the refurbishment of homes for families struggling with homelessness. Staff also volunteered to clear out the former Hope Homes for redevelopment.

For End to End, $3,000 was given to support the organisation’s fundraising efforts across the island.

The reinsurer said: “Furthering Athene’s reach, the company played an active role in supporting the community through volunteering with organisations like Habitat for Humanity and sponsoring events and organisations like the Bermuda T-20 Cricket League.

Athene’s support through sponsorships totalled $170,000, in addition to the $100,000 in donations.
