David Drogin takes leadership role at Mosaic Insurance
Mosaic Insurance has appointed David Drogin to lead growth of its US cyber business.
The Bermudian-based specialty insurer said the appointment is part of the division’s global build-out to meet demand across the sector.
Mr Drogin joins the company’s New York office as SVP, head of US, cyber, reporting to global head of cyber Yosha DeLong.
The company said he will be responsible for leading operational and growth strategy for Mosaic’s US cyber portfolio.
The company’s cyber team has 23 underwriters in New York, Chicago, London, Toronto, Germany, Dubai and Bermuda.
“We’re thrilled to welcome David to Mosaic as we ramp up our US cyber platform and position to become a dynamic leader in this challenging space,” said Ms DeLong.
“Our continued expansion is aligned with Mosaic’s dedication to the cyber insurance class and our commitment to providing risk-transfer solutions to policy holders, backed by a best-in-class team.”
Mosaic launched its primary cyber product in May, offering $25 million in capacity across its network of underwriting hubs.
The company said the new coverage, building on two years of successful excess cyber, deploys syndicated capital for both Mosaic’s Syndicate 1609 and trade partners under the company’s hybrid agency model — spreading risk while retaining full claims-settlement control.
Notably, the company added, Mosaic’s cyber product also benefits from a pioneering partnership with tech leader Safe Security to provide inside-out evaluation to organisations and embed real-time cyber-risk data into the underwriting process.
Mosaic said Mr Drogin is a senior cyber insurance professional and lawyer with more than 18 years of experience across claims, product development and underwriting spheres.
He said: “At a time when even the most thoroughly prepared companies are unable to eradicate the risk of cyber attacks, the significance of cyber insurance should not be understated.
“I am delighted to join Mosaic’s talented team, and I look forward to helping empower our clients to fortify their cyber resilience in this rapidly developing sector.”
Other recent additions to Mosaic’s cybersecurity division include: Toni Gehring, AVP, underwriter, in Germany; Kyle Gray, VP, underwriter, in Toronto; Tayler Salvatore, AVP, and Kimiya Malek, associate production specialist, in New York; and junior underwriters Ted Duberley and Florence Colangelo in London.
Mosaic launched cyber as its first product line in the spring of 2021, a few weeks after the company opened for business.
Today, it said, the sector is its fastest growing of seven specialties, with the division capitalising on strong collaboration with public agencies to bolster digital security and help shape industry best practices.
Mosaic said top-level breach specialists help the company’s clients rapidly recover from cyber events.
“We focus on protecting diverse industry types for stand-alone coverage, from financial services to manufacturing,” said Ms DeLong.
“Our aim has always been to support clients’ ability to not only prevent an attack, but also minimise business interruption, financial loss and other damages in any aftermath. The global need is growing greater — and we intend to meet it.”
