Stephen Barr joins Sompo

Sompo International, the Bermudian-based global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty reinsurance, has appointed Stephen Barr as head of marine and energy liability insurance, London Market.
He will be based in London and report into Paul Ashworth, head of aviation, energy and marine, London Market.
Mr Barr joins Sompo International from CNA/Hardy, where he was European head of marine insurance.
He previously worked as both an underwriter and a broker with Talbot, Hiscox and Sedgwick.
In 2022, he was appointed as vice chair of the International Union of Marine Insurance’s executive committee.
