Carey Olsen Bermuda celebrates International Women’s Day 2024
Carey Olsen Bermuda has marked this year’s International Women’s Day with a panel discussion focusing on the professional and personal experiences of four women leading the way in Bermuda.
The panel was moderated by Carey Olsen senior associate Laura Kearns and featured Butterfield Bank senior vice-president legal counsel Kim Simmons; Justice Shade Subair Williams; group head of trust services at Lombard Odier Group, Charmaine Tucker; and Carey Olsen senior counsel Claire van Overdijk KC.
Panellists discussed topics such as inspiring inclusion; the challenges they have faced as women in the workplace; how to navigate impostor syndrome; creating work-life balance; and their advice to the younger generation seeking to progress in their careers.
One hundred local women attended the event at The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and concluded with networking and afternoon tea.
“I feel very privileged to have moderated such an open and honest discussion between four exceptional, accomplished women,” Ms Kearns said. “Through their candour and humour, the panellists shared experiences which really resonated with our guests. We look forward to continuing to inspire inclusion in Bermuda.”
Ms Overdijk was also honoured to be a part of the event.
“In joining together with local women at various stages in their respective professions, we found lots to celebrate and to inspire us to continue the discussion by way of a collaborative and supportive network to further inclusion, diversity and equality for women in Bermuda,” she said.
