More than 80 executives were hosted by EY during a recent reception for the Insurance Supper Club, a global business network dedicated to bridging the gender seniority gap in the insurance and reinsurance industries.

They heard from Frank Schmid, the industry luminary and renowned expert on Generative AI, who also was a keynote at the Bermuda Risk Summit.

The meeting at O’Hara House brought together insurance industry leaders and ISC members.

Also in attendance were Wayne Furbert, Minister of Transport; Tinée Furbert, Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors; and, Owen Darrell, Senate Leader and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

During the reception’s welcome address, Bill Bailey, EY Bermuda country managing partner and regional tax leader noted that his firm was a global corporate sponsor of ISC and founding sponsor of the ISC Bermuda chapter.

Mr Bailey said: “EY strives to create a working environment in which women can thrive in their careers.

“I am delighted that we were joined by Michele Thompson, regional managing partner for the EY region of the Bahamas, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.

“Michele is a trailblazer of female regional leadership as she was the first female country managing partner (EY Bahamas) and the first female regional managing partner of any of the big four firms.”

Ms Thompson said: “The ISC community epitomises EY’s purpose of building a better working world and we were delighted to host this event.

“EY shares the ISC’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusiveness, and equality of access to the resources and opportunities needed for everyone to reach their full potential.”
