Athena Tolosa appointed as CFO at Hamilton Re
Hamilton Insurance Group Ltd has appointed Athena Tolosa as chief financial officer at Hamilton Re, the company’s Bermudian-based insurance and reinsurance underwriting platform.
Ms Tolosa replaces Chad Cundliffe, who has retired from the organisation.
Based on the island, she will report to Hamilton Re chief executive Megan Thomas and group chief accounting officer Brian Deegan.
Ms Thomas said: “Athena’s appointment is an excellent addition to Hamilton and I look forward to working closely with her.
“She has an accomplished financial background with an impressive track record in the industry. Her experience and counsel will help to ensure our finance team pursues its key priorities in support of Hamilton Re’s continued success.”
She added: “We are grateful for Chad’s contributions during his over nine years with Hamilton. We respect his decision to move home to Canada with his family and wish him all the best.”
Mr Deegan added: “I’m pleased to welcome someone of Athena’s calibre to the Hamilton team. She will play a key role in the leadership of our global finance team.”
The company said Ms Tolosa had enjoyed a successful 18-plus year career in the insurance and reinsurance industry.
She joins Hamilton from RenaissanceRe, where she held a range of senior roles for five years, most recently serving as senior vice-president, head of finance - reinsurance.
Before RenaissanceRe, Ms Tolosa spent 11 years at Tokio Millenium Re (now RenaissanceRe) where she held roles of increasing seniority in both Bermuda and Switzerland, with her last role as vice-president, finance.
Earlier in her career, she worked with EY in Bermuda and PwC in the Philippines.
Ms Tolosa is a certified public accountant.
