WiRe appoints new board members
Women in Reinsurance has four new board appointments, including the recipient of this year’s WiRe Woman of the Year, Natasha Scotland Courcy, the chief executive and general counsel at Athene Bermuda.
The organisation, which is dedicated to supporting and advancing women in the reinsurance industry, said the board changes came as it embarked on an updated vision, purpose and values statement, underscoring its commitment to promoting professional development, networking and diversity for members.
Additional new directors previously served on the Events Committee: Kyra Hodsoll, assistant manager of Operations at Ariel Re; Sylvia Taylor, reinsurance accountant at Martello Re; and Marlín Ramlal, senior underwriter at MS Re.
Peta White, chair of WiRe and president of Vantage Risk, welcomed the new board members, who join Carmen DeSilva (QBE Bermuda), Susan Smith (Ark Insurance Ltd), Julia Mather (Falcon Insurance PCC Ltd) and Maamoun Rajeh (Arch Worldwide Reinsurance Group).
She said the new members brought a passion that was invaluable to the pursuit of a new strategic direction.
Ms White said: “This expansion reflects our commitment to inclusivity and excellence, ensuring that WiRe continues to be a vibrant and supportive community.”
Carmen DeSilva, WiRe director and VP – specialty underwriter at QBE Bermuda, said: “We have transformed the Event Committee to Executive Committee in recognition of all the work the team does across the four pillars of WiRe, which includes networking and mentoring; education and development; media and communications; and treasury and sponsorship.
“Each board member will be responsible for overseeing these pillars and ensuring that our vision, purpose and values are the driving force behind all decisions.”
