Chaucer Group, the international specialty insurer and reinsurer with an operation in Bermuda, has appointed Hayley Spink as its group chief operating officer.

Chaucer Insurance Company Designated Activity Company Bermuda Branch is a Class 4 insurer licensed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

Ms Spink will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of Chaucer’s operations and service strategy, with a focus on delivering first-class operations and processes across the group, the company said.

Her appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Chaucer said Ms Spink has an impressive track record with more than 20 years of London Market experience, including senior leadership roles at Lloyd’s.

She will join Chaucer in the fourth quarter of the year from Apollo Syndicate 1969, where she serves as chief operating officer.

The company said David Bendle, incumbent group chief operating officer, will retire as planned at the end of the year after 22 years of service.
