The Argus Group has released its third annual Sustainability Report, charting its progress in addressing challenges including climate change and social equity.

The company said the focus is on how Argus is living its purpose to be “a powerful force for sustainable wellbeing” by embedding enterprise-wide, material changes that benefit its people and the planet.

Featured are efforts to ensure a fair and rewarding workplace by challenging bias and investing in training and professional development, driving change through employee, customer, shareholder and partner feedback, and embedding climate change at all levels of the business.

Among the highlights is the completion of the 130-solar panel installation at the company’s headquarters in Hamilton, generating renewable energy to reduce the environmental impact of its operations.

Another is independent recognition of the work of the Belong BLAC (Black Leaders and Allies for Change) Committee for its leadership in embedding and strengthening sustainable anti-racism and diversity practices across the group.

Kimberley Caines-Best, sustainability management committee chairwoman and associate general counsel, said: “Sustainability is a process of continuous responsiveness, driving our quest for ongoing improvement. Through engaging, listening and learning, we will strive to meet the evolving needs and expectations of employees, customers, shareholders and the communities we serve.”

The company said Argus contributed more than $357,000 to various charitable causes; invested $214,000 in talent development, delivering 250 hours of coaching, leadership training, and educational sessions; launched and supported several initiatives, including the second annual Argus Running Club, fitness classes, and sponsorship of various sporting events; and began capturing data for Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions across its global operations.

Alison Hill, chief executive, Argus Group, said: “At the core of our business ethos is prioritising the wellbeing of our people, a principle that is a natural fit with sustainability.

“I am proud of the progress our team has made in embedding sustainable practices and policies across the group, strengthening our resilience and our ability to deliver value for the long term. We know sustainability is a work in progress, and we will continue to focus on making meaningful contributions to a better future.”
