Arch Capital Group Ltd held a private memorial event to honour and celebrate the life of former chief executive Dinos Iordanou on Monday in New York.

Highly regarded throughout the industry, Mr Iordanou died in June at the age of 74.

Attended by family members, close friends and longtime colleagues, the company said the event paid tribute to Mr Iordanou’s lasting contributions to Arch and the insurance industry at large.

“Dinos was full of life, always generous and an inspirational role model,” said Nicolas Papadopoulo, chief executive, president and chief underwriting officer of Arch.

“We were honoured to help celebrate the impact he had on Arch and the insurance industry as a whole. I know he was very proud of Arch, and his legacy is part of our company’s story.”

Mr Iordanou was part of the leadership team that founded Arch in 2001, and he held the position of president and CEO of Arch Capital Group from 2003 until 2018.

During his tenure, the company said, he grew Arch’s footprint significantly and helped lay the critical groundwork that enabled Arch’s ascent to its current status as a market-leading insurer.
