The Lloyd’s Market Association has appointed John Levett to the position of head of Regulatory Affairs.

He will report to Arabella Ramage, legal director of the LMA.

Mr Levett joined the LMA last October as senior executive, Regulatory Affairs, and has worked on a broad range of consultations with bodies such as the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulatory Authority, as well as chairing the LMA committee for environmental and climate litigation.

Previously, he was the senior regulatory lead at RSA Insurance. From 2017 until 2022, Mr Levett worked at the FCA, where he was a technical specialist in general insurance compliance and worked on product governance-related thematics.

He said: “I am delighted to be taking up this role at such an important time for our industry and our members. Smarter regulation can only help reinforce the London market’s global reputation as the centre of insurance and reinsurance technical expertise.”

Mr Levett will be assisted in his new role by his successor, Alex Sheehan, senior executive, Regulatory Affairs, who recently joined the LMA.

All 55 Lloyd’s managing agencies, and all Lloyd’s members’ agents, are members of the LMA, which represents its members’ interests to organisations including governments, regulators and the market’s central supporting body, the Corporation of Lloyd’s.
