Greg Mitchell to lead Cayman reinsurance association

Greg Mitchell has been appointed chairman of the board of directors at the Cayman International Reinsurance Companies Association.

Mr Mitchell, the chief actuary at Aureum Re, succeeds David Self, who will transition to a new role as part-time general manager of Circa.

Faramarz Romer of Greenlight Re has been appointed vice-chairman of the organisation.

Circa said highlights of 2024 included the first ReConnect Conference, which attracted 431 attendees, 33 speakers, and 32 sponsors.

It said membership in the organisation had increased by 33 per cent during the year.

Mr Mitchell and Mr Romer are joined on the board by Adina Lupea, CIBC Re; Eric Marhoun, Nassau Re; Janet Sairsingh, United Insurance; Gary Callaghan, Barents Re; Tyler Bent, Knighthead Annuity; Fearghal O’Riordan, North End Re; Darryl Cardozo, RBC; Brandon Smith, Accelerant Re; Richard Zebleckas, Aspida Re; R. Cameron Leitch, Hildene Re; Peter McKelvy, Northern Re; Stephen Cernich, Talcott Life & Annuity Re; and Wang Xu, Ledger Re.
