Reinsurance legend Brian Duperreault will headline the closing session of the Bermuda Risk Summit 2025, the Bermuda Business Development Agency announced today.

“The Last Word: Brian Duperreault”, an exclusive “seaside chat”, will take place on the final day of the summit, offering attendees an opportunity to hear from an influential industry leader.

John Huff, the president and chief executive of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers, called the seaside chat an “absolute must-attend” for anyone serious about the direction of global reinsurance.

Mr Duperreault’s participation follows the market entry of his newest company, Mereo Insurance, and comes a week before the launch of his biography, Faith & Purpose: The Life & Vision of Insurance Icon Brian Duperreault.

Mr Huff will lead the seaside chat, encouraging Mr Duperreault to provide some insight into Mereo’s plans, as well as what is covered in his biography.

He said Mr Duperreault’s leadership, vision and contributions to the industry have helped to establish Bermuda as the powerhouse it is today.

“His ability to navigate global markets, transform organisations and lead through change has influenced generations of industry professionals,” he said. “With his new venture, Mereo Insurance, Brian continues to redefine what it means to be an industry leader.”

Kendaree Burgess, managing director of the BDA, said Mr Duperreault is a pioneer whose influence has shaped the global reinsurance landscape for more than 50 years.

“His ability to anticipate and navigate market shifts has set the standard for leadership in the industry,” Ms Burgess said.

She added that having him close the summit was a defining moment for the event and for all who attend.

“As Bermuda continues to reinforce its position as the world’s risk capital, Brian’s insights will be instrumental in informing future strategies for insurers, reinsurers and the broader risk community,” Ms Burgess said.

“We encourage attendees to join this landmark session.”

The BDA said its participation came at a pivotal time as risk management strategies continue to evolve in response to emerging challenges.
